This school year, Lake Local Schools are welcoming Mr. Brett Yeagley into the community as the new district superintendent. Raised in Minerva, Ohio, and starting his career as a Superintendent at Canton South, Mr. Yeagley brings with him the motto, “Every Child, Every Minute, Every Day.” A motto which he seems to strongly stand behind in his philosophy as an educator.
“We’re trying to make sure our students know that we are proud of them for what they are doing and provide them with the best opportunities and programs we can,” Mr. Yeagley expressed with enthusiasm.
Mr. Yeagley is doing his best to make sure that his students and staff know him and that he knows them on a personal level. He regularly takes time out of his day to travel between classrooms to interact with students in all Lake buildings. He is also actively making an effort to be present at events as often as he can and witnessing what all the amazing programs students are involved in and have to offer. These efforts have not gone unnoticed. Between chatter in the hallways and in class conversations, there is always something positive to be said about Mr. Yeagley and the energy he brings to the Lake Local School District.
“I never wanted to be someone who just sat in an office and no one knew who I was… for me, the only way to be a good leader is to build strong relationships,” Mr. Yeagley shared about the value of leadership.
He takes a lot of pride in the Lake Community. Mr. Yeagley has discussed that part of the reason he wanted to work at Lake is because the schools are located in a well-run small town.
“Not only is this a community that’s striving to be the best, but it still holds those small town values,” he stated.
The Hartville Township and the families that surround the school are always supporting each other and making sure everyone feels safe and taken care of wherever they go. This is something Mr. Yeagley finds incredibly valuable coming from a small town such as Minerva.
“What I want is to create a situation where anyone, from students to our staff to our community if they have an issue or a concern they feel comfortable bringing it to me,” Mr. Yeagley expressed.
Taking care of the District is a big job that one person can not do alone and he hopes that everyone feels comfortable talking to him and working together to make our schools the best they can be.
Overall, Mr. Yeagley is coming in with a positive attitude and a lot of care for the students, staff, and parents of our school district. You can find him in the administration office or likely walking around the schools making conversation.

This article made me feel more confident in Lakes new superintendent. It sounds like he will help our children and community grow in a positive way. I look forward to meeting him in the near future.
