As the spooky season creeps in schools across the country are plagued by fear. Referencing recent surveys, the teachers of Lake are constantly watching their backs or possibly the back of their necks for hair, spiders, or even being buried alive.
With Halloween around the corner this can be a spooky time of year. According to Psychology Today the nation’s biggest Halloween fears are clowns, the dark, being buried alive, spiders, skeletons, and death. When taking a survey we found that members of Lake’s staff match some of the nation’s fears since they are also scared of clowns, being buried alive, spiders, and death. However, Lake had some fears that aren’t as common as well.
The survey showed Lake’s teachers have a fear of sharks, failure, the ocean, snakes, loose hair, feet, birds, flying insects, heights, and choking. Some of these fears were inspired by movies like “JAWS” and “IT”. Some unique responses were “my students embarrassing me by using the wrong form of to/ too/ two or there/ their/ they’re”, “running out of books to read”, and “disagreeing with my wife”.
So students and staff of Lake Middle High School stay safe this Halloween and don’t let your fears creep up on you no matter how unique they might be.
