Lake High School seniors used their imaginations to paint unique designs for their assigned parking spots. At the High School, on Sunday, Sept. 8, students came together and participated in this fun event. Students were asked to also bring a donation for the Lake Care Team closet. This tradition has taken place for Lake High School seniors for the past three years. It arose to bring students together, and for them to express their creativity in a fun way, participate in a good cause, and with family and friends by their side.
Leah Cooper, a senior at LHS, stated that she had an amazing experience. “Painting my parking spot was really such a fun thing to do, I was glad I got to bond with everyone while painting, and see everyone else’s cool designs.” Leah used SpongeBob as her design. When asked to expand on her choice, “I always loved watching SpongeBob when I was little, so I chose to paint my spot that to connect something from my childhood, to my now senior year of high school.”
Senior students even took it upon themselves to still go and tag along, even if they did not have a spot to paint. Another student, Izzy Sobleskie explained, ”I still enjoyed helping out all of my friends, even though I did not have my own spot to paint.” Sobleskie continued to explain that she would have loved to paint her own spot, but she was okay with helping and making her friends enjoy it even more.
This is the third year of senior parking spot painting which will most likely continue for the many years to come. Students who missed out were able to go the following Sunday so that everyone was able to participate if they wanted to. The many unique designs ranged from TV/movie characters to singers, motivational quotes, crazy designs, bible verses, and so many more. Seniors at Lake High School loved this new tradition, and will forever remember this fun time.
