Streak Summer Send-Off

Mariessa Stensbeck, Staff Writer

The Streaks Summer Send-Off is meant to be a celebration for the students after a long successful year. But what is going unseen is the organized effort behind the event. What operations are happening behind the scenes of the dunk tank and the food trucks on May 15th?

This event was celebrated last year with the name “Summer Send-Off”. And with a slightly different name, there are also some things that are different than last year. According to Kaitlynn Thomas, one of the Lake Marketing students responsible for the event, the planning is going great. The organizers broke down into small, specialized groups to work more efficiently. Some of those groups’ specialties include logistics and the social media. And while most students don’t notice the marketing students are productive and wrap up their tasks.

But the students are not the only ones preoccupied with thoughts of the Streak Summer Send-Off. Lake staff members were asked to volunteer to fall victim to the dunk tank. Students can vote during their lunch periods to dunk one of the selected teachers, at the table in front of the cafeteria. The teachers’ fates lie in the hands of their students. Miss Hawari, one of the nominated teachers, elected to let the students decide if they want to dunk her because she thinks it is important that students see the fun side of teachers. She also believes that the voting is based on if the students think that the teachers are going to make jokes and be fun.

And with that: see you at the Streak Summer Send Off!
