Anthony Miller Takes Down Districts

Mariessa Stensbeck, Staff Writer

During Districts on Saturday, March 4th, Junior Anthony Miller wrestled his way to States. Though he lost his final match, he was placed fourth overall and became Lake’s only wrestler to make it to States. His teammates Grayson Clemens, Zane Beard, Dakota Whitacre, and Gavin Greathouse were not able to place. Only Grayson Clemens, who wrestles in the 106 weight class and placed 6th, may have a slight chance of wrestling if those who placed higher were to become incapacitated.

Starting in 8th grade, Anthony’s wrestling career made it possible for him to go to States. Even though he is proud of his success, he expressed to feeling that many of his teammates should be there with him. To him, this means that he must wrestle for them now. For Big Tony, a nickname coined by the team, he has had a great season so far and is excited to keep it up as he moves forward. On Saturday, March 11th, he wrestled in States against a number one seed from a different district. Before the match, he said that he is confident that he can beat him and expects to place in the top eight.

Good luck, Anthony. Keep up with the good work, and show States what makes us Great at Lake.
