This school year at Lake High school the senior class of 2026 entered their new year with excitement and eagerness to get involved with each other and different school events. Students saw the previous classes before them not as involved with the community and each other. So this year, the class of 2026, are making sure that is not the case.
The students all rallied together as a community, instead of separate groups, and are trying to do and plan activities together to make the year more enjoyable for all. Over the summer, a senior account was created and it is run by a few members in the class who participate in student council. Events, upcoming sporting games, and photos are all posted on the account.
“I felt like there wasn’t a direct way for all of the seniors to be connected, starting the account was a great way to post events so everyone can get together and share photos and memories that we will be making during our last year of high school,” said senior Emily Eakin, the current student running the Lake Senior ‘26 account.
To kick off the year the class officers put on a senior sunrise for any seniors to come be a part of. In the parking lot of the high school, many seniors showed up. Many friend groups, over the summer, got together to paint senior jeans and make matching senior tee shirts. The painted jeans were a great touch at the event. It was enjoyable for everyone to be a part of and reconnect from the summer.
This class has so much school spirit and they hope it is passed on to the upcoming classes. Their wish is for all the fun activities and events to carry on years to come. It makes the school year all the more fun, and gives students the opportunity to talk to people they may have never talked to before. The overall theme with this class is, trying to make every moment count for their last year in high school.
Principal Dan Harold is overall impressed with the senior class this year. He sees the leadership and the school spirit from all the seniors really coming together. Harold is looking forward to seeing what this class accomplishes. Every year Harold says and has the same wishes for the senior class.
“When we get to the end of the year and nobody wants it to end, that’s a successful year,” said Principal Dan Harold.
“We hope that when we are on the stage for graduation we don’t look back and have any regrets on the year, grudges with anyone, and can’t say that we missed out on opportunities,” continued senior Olivia Draher.
The class of 2026 are starting all kinds of new traditions to make sure their last year is filled with lasting memories.
