On March 6th, the Hartville Banquet Hall buzzed with excitement as students from Lake and Glenoak High School came together for a Senior Business Showcase. This event, organized by the teachers, allowed students to present their entrepreneurial ventures to friends, family, and community members.
Each team got the opportunity to take the stage to showcase their unique business ideas, highlighting the hard work and learning experiences that went into their projects. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm as students were eager to share their creative ideas with the community. Each team had a presentation that was about 3-5 minutes long and this was their time to showcase all the hard work they put into their business and any achievements they have received. They also got to explain a little bit more in depth about what their product is and why they chose to create their business, based on the issue that they focus on. These high school businesses are done through a program called Junior Achievement. This program allows the students to be in complete control of their business handling applications like supply chain management and finance controls.
After all the presentations, guests were invited to explore various booths set up by the students. This interactive experience allowed those in attendance to browse products and even make purchases, supporting the young entrepreneurs. From innovative car gadgets to unique jewelry, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Some teams even made profits over $500 from just this event alone! Students have the exciting opportunity to keep the profits they make from their business. Not only does the financial reward give students something to motivate them, but also allows them to learn important life skills like budgeting, marketing, sales, all while earning money they get to keep at the end of the year.
The showcase not only provided a platform for students to demonstrate their business experience thus far but also fostered a sense of community and encouragement among friends and families. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to gain valuable experience in presenting their ideas and engaging with potential customers.
Overall, the Senior Business Showcase was a resounding success, showcasing the talent and determination of the students involved. This event will definitely become a yearly tradition for the Marketing program so make sure to keep an eye out for the next one!
